Funeral services for Flora Hunter, affectionately known as “Nanny” by her family, friends, and the dozens of beloved children for whom she cared, will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at Boone Funeral Home, Indianola. She passed away peacefully on Monday, August 20, 2018 in Indianola, Mississippi. She was 86 years old. Burial will be in the Indianola City Cemetery.
Nanny will be remembered by many loved ones for her strawberry and chocolate cakes, her green thumb, and her love for knick-knacks. More importantly, though, she will be remembered for her deep faith in the Lord and the constant love and devotion she provided to her family, friends, fellow church members, and children in her community. Throughout her life, she shared the love of Christ by opening her home to grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and neighborhood children, always nurturing and caring for each one as if they were her own.

She is survived by four children, Barbara Bingham (Thomas) of Indianola; Randy Hunter (Gail) of Knoxville, Tennessee; Robert Hunter (Jenny) of Cary, North Carolina; and Shane Hunter of Raleigh, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Lucy Childs of Kansas City, Missouri; Thelma Brown (Joel) of Hollandale; Patricia Chalk of The Villages, Florida; and Jimmy Newman (Donna) of Little Rock, Arkansas.
