Foster A. Renfroe

Funeral services for Foster A. Renfroe, 90, will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Indianola.  He passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 with family at his side in the VA Hospital in Murfreesboro,TN. Burial with full military honors provided by Columbus AFB Honor Guard will follow at Indianola City Cemetery under the direction of Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola.
Foster was born August 27, 1922, in Lake Village AR. In his early years his home was destroyed by a tornado and washed away by the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927.  The family relocated to Belzoni MS in 1930 and Foster graduated from Belzoni High School in 1942.  He immediately enlisted in the Army Air Corps for WWII.  He was wounded in a German fighter attack early in the war and returned to Belzoni MS from England in 1946 to work in Callanders Welding Shop.  In 1947 he married Eleanor Pauline “Polly” Roberts.  In 1950 Foster was recalled for the Korean War and deployed for six months to support air combat operations.  In 1965 Master Sergeant Renfroe was sent to Southeast Asia.  He spent nearly 18 months in South Vietnam as Chief of Field Maintenance in Nha Trang.  After surviving three wars, he retired in 1968, returning to live in Indianola MS until 1997.  Following Polly’s death in 1993, Foster married Ada Roberts.  They lived happily in Brandon MS until her death in 2009.  Until his death he was living with his sons.
Foster Renfroe was a good man, brilliant in many areas and exceptional as a husband and father.  We will miss him dearly until we meet again.
Foster is survived by two sisters, Travesteen Lois Parker and Malinda Nell McCullouch; two sons, Aubrey Vance and Dennis Keith Renfroe; two daughters-in-law, Anita Boyle Renfroe and Paula Tubbs Renfroe; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. 
The family will receive friends from 10:00-12:00 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola.
