Funeral services for Frances Barnett Flemings, 86, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at The Lamp Ministries in Inverness, MS. There will be a visitation from 10;00 a.m. until the service time at the church. She passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in Florence, MS. Burial will be in Greencrest Cemetery, Belzoni, MS. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Indianola.
Mrs. Flemings was born in Vaiden, MS to Joseph D. Barnett and Blanche Carter Barnett.
Frances loved the Lord and was a very compassionate person. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin Flemings; daughter, Betty Sue Bowman; son, Garry Dean Flemings; sisters, Dorothy Alford, Mildred Henderson, Catherine Ervin, and Gladys Boyles; and brothers, J.P. “Pete” Hobsen, James L. Barnett, and Roy Cecil Barnett.
She is survived by two daughters, Tonua Flemings and Robin Flemings; three sons, Melvin Flemings, Jr. (Patricia), Buddy Ray Flemings (John DeLong), and Joseph Ray Flemings (Megan); brother, Joseph D. Barnett; 20 plus grandchildren and 20 plus great-grandchildren.
