Funeral services for Freddrick Rodney Boykin, 84, of Hollandale will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Hollandale. He died Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be at Vickland Cemetery in Delta City.
Boykin was raised in Sharkey County before marrying and moving to Hollandale. He served in the United States Marine Corp. He returned home to join in many family ventures such as land clearing, logging and then farming. HE was known to many in this area as the best rice farmer in the Detla. He took great pride and joy in his family and spending time with them.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Reba Clarke Boykin, his parents, F. B. and Annie Loyce Boykin, 3 brothers, W. G. (Bill) Boykin, Wallace S. (Buddy) Boykin and Fieldon B. Boykin.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Kenny) Hendrix of Delta City, Leslie (Thomas) Hassett and Terry (Robert) Burford of Hollandale; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home, Hollandale. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.
