Gary Giesbrecht was born in Ortega, Chihuahua, Mexico on Jan 20, 1956. He became the son of Ben and Pauline (Litwiller) Giesbrecht at nine months of age, and he was officially adopted on April 19, 1959. He passed away at home in the early hours of Jan 24, 2025, reaching the age of 69 years.

Gary spent his early years in Mexico with his parents in the mission field. He spent his days riding horses bareback in the mountains and playing soccer with all the children in the streets of San Raphael.

They moved back to Cimarron, KS when Gary was 11 years of age. Shortly after, he moved with his family to Leland, MS. He lived in the Mississippi Delta for the rest of his life.

At the age of 15, he accepted God’s call to salvation and gave his heart to Him. He was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, by his father.

On May 4, 1974, Gary was married to Trudene J. Boehs with his father, Minister Ben Giesbrecht, officiating. To this union were born two daughters, Lori and Holly. He lived away from his family for many years. During this time, we gained a sister, Cameron.

His lifelong occupation was land leveling. He loved his work and strived for perfection. After retiring from his own landforming business, he worked for a short while as a parts salesman at McMillan Supply in Greenville, MS. He returned to land leveling, working for other companies until he became disabled. He loved the Delta, and he loved to ride and look at the crops and the sunsets.

We as a family will always remember his strong tight hugs and his affection. He loved all his family, but we girls were always his #1 love. He faithfully maintained his connection with us by checking in with us on at least a weekly basis. When his mother moved to Oakwood Retirement Center, he called her every evening, a time that was looked forward to by both of them. He was very proud of his grandchildren and kept up with their important events. When Ashton, his first grandson, was born, he felt like he had gained a son, and they remained close throughout life.

Gary had a desire to do what was right and talked often of his prayers and reading his Bible. He was always prompt to say he was sorry and ask for forgiveness. When he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few weeks ago, we moved him to Mom’s home to care for him. During this time, he sought forgiveness from God, meanwhile making confessions to others. Our hearts are at rest as we commit him to God’s hands.

Survivors include his wife Trudy of Leland, MS; three daughters, Lori Giesbrecht of Moorhead, MS, Holly (and husband Ned) Servadio of Carraway, AR, and Cameron Giesbrecht of Leland, MS; his mother, Pauline; three sisters Tina (and husband Loren) Koehn of Leland, MS, Anita Koehn of Brooksville, MS, and Mona Rhodes of Montezuma, KS; six grandchildren, Ashton Giesbrecht, Gavin Roberson, McKenzie Servadio, Ella Servadio, Kadyn Servadio and Lorelei Carnell, and three great-grandchildren, Kyndalyn Giesbrecht, Aaliyah Giesbrecht, and Brantley Giesbrecht. Also surviving him are two brothers-in-law, Roger (and wife, Bettye) Boehs, and Jim (and wife, Donna) Boehs. Gary was preceded in death by a sister, Marla Jean, and his father, Ben, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
