Gasvy Edward Phillips III

Funeral Mass for Gasvy Edward “Eddie” Phillips III, 67, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m.,Saturday, May 8, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He transitioned to Heaven on Monday, May 3, 2021 at his home. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

Ed was born in Spartanburg, SC. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and always placed God first. He was preceded in death by his father, Gasvy Edward Phillips, Jr. and survived by his mother Carolyn Miller Powell.

He is also survived by his wife, Gail Ragland Phillips; children, Amanda Joyce Phillips (Brian) of Miami, FL; Aaron Edward Phillips (Bianca) of India Point, IN; step-son, Michael Tracy Ragland of Fort Worth, TX and three grandsons, Braxton 7, Brenna 7 and Gavsy 1; brother, Randy Guy Phillips (Jane) of Polestown, PA and sister, Jan Phillips Harvey (Brian) of Spartanburg, SC. Ed was greatly loved by his nieces and nephews from South Carolina and Pennsylvania.

Ed worked at Elder Care as their IT Director and supervisor at South Delta Planning. He was a teacher of Religion and Mathematics and mentor at St. Joseph Catholic School. Ed served in the US Air Force as Master Chief for 20 years and as a paramedic at SRHS in South Carolina. Most knew him as a Lifeguard at Arcadia swimming pool.

He was awarded “Angels Among Us” from the community of Greenville; served as board member of St. Vincent de Paul feeding ministry and was a 4th degree in Knight of Columbus.

Ed was a mentor to many. He loved anything Ole Miss. His greatest joy was his family. He touched the heart and soul of countless friends with his kindness. He never knew a stranger and was always there to help. He was fortunate to be surrounded by his wife and children when he transitioned to heaven. He will be greatly missed by many.

There will be a visitation at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a rosary at 7:00 p.m..
