Gino Joseph Mangialardi, Jr., the beloved son of Gino Mangialardi Sr. and Lena Balducci Mangialardi, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 after a brief illness. He was the eldest of two sons and leaves behind a legacy of love and accomplishment.

Gino graduated from Shelby High School in 1952, where he not only excelled academically but also found his passion for football. He went on to pursue higher education at Mississippi State University, earning two engineering degrees, one in mechanical engineering and another in agricultural engineering.

After completing two years of service in the army in the Panama Canal Zone, Gino worked for Boeing in Los Angeles. However, destiny soon called him back to Mississippi when an opportunity arose at the USDA Agricultural Research Service in Stoneville. He had a distinguished 37-year career at the USDA beginning in 1959, and during this time, he earned three patents for devices and methods related to cotton ginning.

In 1964, Gino met and married the love of his life, Edna Marion Mansour. They shared over 51 wonderful years of marriage until Edna’s passing in 2016. Together, they created a warm and loving home in Greenville, Mississippi, where they raised their three children. In 2012, they relocated to Nashville to be closer to their oldest son.

Gino’s faith was an integral part of his life, and he was a devoted parishioner at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Greenville for nearly 50 years. His dedication to his church community was demonstrated through his service on the parish council and finance committees and as an honored Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. He also played a vital role in the committee that spearheaded the construction of the new Saint Joseph High School.

Gino Joseph Mangialardi, Jr., was preceded in death by his loving parents Gino and Lena Mangialardi, as well as his cherished wife Edna. He is survived by his brother Sam Mangialardi (Patsy) of Madison, his children Dr. Robert Mangialardi (Wendy) of Nashville, David Mangialardi (Michelle) of Madison, and Gina Marie Mangialardi of Nashville. Survivors also include three grandsons Henry, George and John of Nashville (sons of Robert) and two granddaughters Katherine Flynn (Austin) and Elizabeth (daughters of David). He had 43 first cousins.

Gino Joseph Mangialardi, Jr., will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his exceptional professional achievements, and his deep devotion to his faith. His kindness, wisdom, equanimity, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
