Gladys Hamilton Hamner

Funeral Mass for Gladys Hamilton Hamner, 97, of Indianola will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Indianola. She died Thursday, May 19 at Washington Care Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Indianola City Cemetery. 

Gladys was born in Sanford, Maine the daughter of Edward Arthur Hamilton and Sophia Marie Chaput Hamilton. She graduated from high school in Sanford then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 being discharged in 1945. Gladys married James Richard Hamner in 1949 making their home in Indianola since 1953. Mr. Hamner precedes her in death in 1995. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Indianola. Gladys was the Assistant Librarian at Henry M. Seymour Library, retiring in 1995 after 28 years. 

She is survived by a step-son, James Darrell Hamner of Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to offer a special thanks to her faithful sitter, Patricia Brown, Grace Hospice, and the nurse’s and CNA’s at Washington Care Center. 

There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
