Gladys Silvey Gist

Funeral services for Gladys Silvey Gist, 103, of Yazoo City and formerly of Indianola will be at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 6, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Indianola. She died Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Methodist House in Yazoo City. Burial will be in Indianola City Cemetery. 

Mrs. Gist was born in Yazoo City on October 31, 1911 and graduated from Clarksdale High School. On October 6, 1934 she married William Gist making their home in Greenville before moving to Indianola in 1949. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Indianola where she was the organist for 30 years. She was also a member of the Culture Club and Garden Club. In 2011 she became a resident of Indywood, moving to Martha Coker Green House Homes in Yazoo City in March 2014. 

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984. She is survived by a son, William N. Gist, Jr. (Martha) of Greenville; daughter, Lettie Eleanor Gist Terrell (Marvin) of Yazoo City; 5 grandchildren, Lettie Lauree Gist Davis (Dale), William N. Gist III (Kara), John Todd Gist (Michelle), Jana Lauree Terrell Bardwell (Andrew) and Julia Gist Terrell Trammell (Tim); 12 great grandchildren, Ty Trammell, Will Trammell, Allye Trammell, Jeffrey Davis, Elizabeth Davis Slezenger, Kelli Davis Carr, Alex Gist, Silvey Gist, Hayes Bardwell, Tyler Bardwell,  Abby Gist,  and Anna Gist;  3 great great grandchildren, Ann Riley Cotton, Granger Cotton and Henry Carr

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
