Gladys Strong “Happy” O’Hara

Private services for Gladys Strong “Happy” O’Hara, 92, of Heber Springs, AR and formerly of Greenville, MS will be held on Friday, September 30. She died Monday, September 26 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, AR. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

There will be a memorial service held at Heber Springs Christian Church following their worship service on Sunday, October 2.  

She was born near Carpenter, MS on March 2, 1924 to Jesse E. Strong and Lona Story Strong. 

She attended Wise School and graduated from Utica High School, Hinds Community College and Kings Daughter’s Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an R. N. at Kings Daughter’s Hospital, Childrens Clinic and Arces, Williams, Hauser Clinic. Later, she worked as a Kindergarten teacher at Greenville Christian School. 

She was a member of Heber Springs Christian Church. 

She is survived by a son, Bill O’Hara (Judy) of Greenville; daughter, Erin Young (Billy) of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren, Emily O’Hara, Will, Kathleen and Kirby Young; two brothers and sister, Joe T. Strong, Marjorie Moody and Norris Strong. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Little and two brothers, Jesse Strong and Luther Strong. 

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Heber Springs Christian Church.  Reverend Eddie Painter of Emmanuel Baptist Church will officiate local services.
