Funeral services for Glenda Mitchell Weeks, age 78, of Leland will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 13, at Boone Funeral Home, Leland. She died Friday, July 10, at Delta Regional Medical Center. A private burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Glenda grew up in a large family in Possum Ridge, Mississippi. After graduation from Riverside High School in 1960, she married Sammy Weeks. They made their home in Leland, and Glenda was employed with J.C. Penney Company as a Stockroom Supervisor until her retirement in 2004. She was a member of New Life Church of God.
Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Glen and May Bell Mitchell, son, Carl Weeks and 7 sisters, Syble Mitchell, Margaret Ray, Jean Elkins, Jeanette Calcote, Linda Knetig, Brenda Hall, Beverly Ridgeway, and 2 brothers, Bill Mitchell and John Mitchell. She is survived by 2 daughters, Teresa Bledsoe (James) of Stoneville and Judy Burdett of Ridgeland; 2 sons, Sammy Weeks, Jr. of Leland and Billy Weeks (Ellen) of Greenville; 2 sisters, Dale Smith of Byram, MS and Barbara Peeples of Diamond City, AR; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
