Grace Edwards Pinnix French

Funeral services for Grace Edwards Pinnix French, 84, of Benoit will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.  She died Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Allegiance Specialty Hospital in Greenville after a brief illness.  Burial will be in the Shaw Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

She was a Baptist and was a member of the Benoit Baptist Church, part of the Benoit Union Church in Benoit, MS.

Grace was born in Longwood, MS on September 15, 1934 to John Thomas and Stella Meeks Edwards. The family lived in Greenville, MS where she attended public schools.

She married Thomas Jackson (TJ) Pinnix in1951 and they made their home in Greenville, MS before moving to the Stringtown, MS community in 1967. After T.J.’s death in 1990, she married Bobby French of Greenville, MS in 1992.

She was employed by Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, MS (formerly General Hospital) for many years as a nurse’s aide and then as Housekeeping Supervisor. After retiring from DRMC, she was employed by Delta Pine & Land Company in Scott, MS as housekeeping supervisor until her retirement there. She and her 2nd husband, Bobby French, ran the Bait Shop at the Benoit Outing Club for several years before Bobby’s health made it necessary for them to retire again.

In the 1980’s, she and T.J. enjoyed square dancing together and were members of Do Ci Do Square Dancing Club from Greenville, MS.

In later years she enjoyed yard work, feeding the birds, chipmunks and squirrels, and spending time at home with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, and sisters Gertrude Echols, Johnnie Falgout and Nell Henderson.

She is survived by sons, Thomas Boyd (Sue Ellen) Pinnix of Stringtown, MS and Ronald Dean (Bernice) Pinnix of Hereford, AZ; grandsons, Thomas Leslie (Searcy) Pinnix of Hernando, MS and Chance Edward (Jessica) Pinnix of Sierra Vista, AZ; great grandchildren, Brianna Pinnix and Kaelynn Pinnix both of Sierra Vista, AZ, Madison Pinnix, Thomas Hall Pinnix, and twins, Meriwether and Milam Pinnix all of Hernando, MS; and several very special nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to Shaw Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 762, Shaw, MS  38773 or to a favorite charity.
