Graveside services for Henry Fook Goon, 99, of Greenville will be at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Greenville Chinese Cemetery. He died Sunday, January 5, 2014 at his home. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mr. Goon was born to Gen Goon and Liang Shee Goon of China in 1914. At the age of 8, he was brought to the United States, where he received his education. Mr. Goon graduated from Stiverson High School in New York. After high school, he worked with his father and brothers in their family owned laundry business. He later returned to Greenville, in 1934, where he assumed ownership of another family owned business, Too Roi Grocery. In 1939, he met and married his wife, Marion Parker Goon. During their union came five boys and two girls.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gen Goon and Liang Shee Goon; two brothers, Fook Sun and Fook Quan; sister-in-law, Corinne Watkins (Auntie), his loving wife of 49 years, Marion Parker Goon; two sons, Henry Goon, Jr. and Stanley Goon.
He is survived by three sons, Paul Goon, Sr. (Mary) of Greenville, Lansing Goon (Fredia) of Greenville and Ludwig Goon (Jackie) of Bellevue, WA; two daughters, Vickie Wilson of Huntsville, AL and Debra Barnes of Phoenix, AZ; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
