Herbert Whiteaker Key, 78, of Greenville, MS died May 15, 2025 at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Funeral Services will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, on Monday, May 19, 2025. Visitation will be at 10:00 before service at 11:00. Herbert was a communicant of St Joseph’s Catholic Church.
He was born December 3, 1946 to Frank Housman Key and Ellen Mae Whiteaker in Greenville, MS. He grew up in Tupelo, MS and graduated from Tupelo High School. He moved to Greenville to work for the Columbus and Greenville Railroad and made Greenville home. He always had a love for trains and modeled HO Gauge for many years. He enjoyed sailing, sports, and fantasy baseball. In his later years, he enjoyed playing bridge. He owned several car washes and a laundry mat. Before retirement, he managed Stop N Shop in Leland, MS. He served in the National Guard from October 1969 to June 1975.
Herbert is predeceased by his sister, Lena Maude (Ermett) Mueller of Gainesville, GA.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carol (Bethel)(Fox) Key, his children- Courtney E. Key of Hattiesburg, MS, Frank G. Key (Candice) of Tupelo, MS, Leslie C. Fox of Virginia Beach, VA, Richard C. Fox of Daisy, OK, his grandchildren Alex G. Key and Liddy M. Key.
