Funeral services for Homer Nightingale, 73, of Leland will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 31 at the Leland Mennonite Church. He died Saturday, December 27 at Delta Regional Medical Center due to complications of a serious infection. Burial will follow in the Leland Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Our dear husband and father was born in Grady County near Verden, Oklahoma on November 9, 1941, and there grew up and received his formal education. He married Carolyn June Jantz of Moundridge, Kansas on October 17, 1965. To this union were born 2 sons and 3 daughters. In the spring of 1980 Homer and family moved to Honey Grove, Texas where he was engaged in farming. They moved to Leland in the spring of 1990, and he took up the trade of carpentry. He was a faithful member of the Leland Mennonite Church.
Homer is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Nightingale of Leland; 2 sons, Eugene Nightingale and wife, Becky of Mountain Grove, Missouri and Kendall Nightingale and wife, Heidi of Leland; 3 daughters, Jeanette Kahn and husband, Keith and Rachel Hughes and husband, Sheldon all of Leland, and Melissa Brubaker and husband, Aaron of Russellville, Missouri; and 16 grandchildren.
A visitation will be held beginning at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 30 at the Leland Mennonite Church.
