Funeral services for Hugh Dowd Doty, Jr., 85, of Lake Village and formerly of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 13 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Tuesday, April 10 at Chicot Memorial Medical Center, Lake Village. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. in Parkway Cemetery, Kosciusko under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mr. Doty was born in Monroe, LA moving to Greenville with his parents, Lucille Thompson Doty and Houston D. Doty, Sr. He was a graduate of Greenville High School and attended Delta State University and the University of Houston, Houston, TX. Mr. Doty served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and after his discharge he returned to Greenville. In February 1965 he became associated with Air Conditioning Sales and became a partner in 1989. In 1996 he moved to Lake Village, AR where he was a member of the Lake Village Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. Mr. Doty was a Gideon, a Mason and former member of the Greenville Lions Club. Mr. Doty was currently working with Bowlin Air Conditioning and Heating.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Richardson Doty; his parents; and two sisters, Doris Lancaster and Kathrine Fulton. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are, Kevin Smith, Russ Beavers, Glen Bowlin, Hank Polson, Johnny Mathews, and Thomas Rice; honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Lake Village Baptist Church and the Gideons.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lake Village Baptist Church, Building Fund, 301 N. Lakeshore Drive, Lake Village, AR 71653.
