Ida Herring Fuquay

Graveside services for Ida Herring Fuquay, 95, of Sumrall and formerly of Greenville will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 25 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. She died Saturday, October 22 at Magnolia Place Assisted Living in Sumrall. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. 

She was a native of French Camp, MS where she graduated from High School. She was a 1942 graduate of the King’s Daughters Nursing School in Greenville. Ida was employed for 35 years with the Mississippi State Board of Health in various capacities. She received the Felix J. Underwood Award (for outstanding public health service) in 1983. Ida was a member of First Christian Church in Greenville, a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Red Cross. 

She was preceded in death by her husband John Paul Fuquay in 2000. She is survived by her son John Paul Fuquay, Jr. (Marilyn) of Laurel; 2 grandchildren, Susan Fuquay Williams (Vince) of Laurel and Michael Fuquay of Port Saint Lucie, FL; and 4 great grandchildren, Ethan Williams, Darian Williams, Hudson Fuquay and Drake Cantrell. 

There will be a visitation from 12:00-12:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 25 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville
