James Daniel Turnage

Funeral services for James Daniel Turnage, 84 of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 26 at Greater Faith Tabernacle Church, Greenville. He died Friday, June 23 at Washington Care Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Lakeview Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. 

Mr. Turnage was born in Hope, AR on November 11, 1932 to Thomas Newton and Daisy Mae Dean Turnage. In 1951 he married Billie Jean Toney in Lake Providence, LA making their home in Greenville since 1959. He was a diesel mechanic and shop foreman for Greenville Shipbuilding for 47 years. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years, a brother, Thomas W. Turnage and 3 sisters, Virginia Turnage, Jean Turnage Pittman and Evelyn Yee. 

Mr. Turnage is survived by 3 sons, Daniel L. Turnage (Vicky) of Leland, James N. Turnage (Melanie) of Commerce, GA and Jerry D. Turnage of Lebanon, TN; 5 sisters, Agnes Hattaway of Keithville, LA, Mardella Thurman of Metarie, LA, Lela Bowyer of Austin, TX, Betty Perkins of Springtown, TX and Sue Leaton of Jackson, MS; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. 

There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
