Funeral services for James Ed Tharp, Sr., 66, of Southaven will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 11, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He died Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at his home. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
James Ed was born in Greenville, MS to Kathleen Sellers Tharp and John T. Tharp on November 10, 1955. He graduated from Washington School in 1974 in Greenville, MS. James Ed retired from Mars, Inc in November 2006. He then moved to Southaven and worked at Newly Weds Foods, Inc. James Ed was close to one month from retirement.
He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. In his spare time he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He was an avid fisherman and golf player. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and Ole Miss Rebels.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Tharp, father, John Tharp, brothers, Don Tharp and Travis Tharp.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debra DeAngelo Tharp; son, James Ed Tharp, Jr. (Courtney) of Southaven; daughter Vicki Fore (Greg) of Greenville; grandchildren, Morgan Fore of Flowood, James Robert Duncan of Greenville, Gregory Fore of Greenville, Ivy Kate Tharp and James Tharp III (Jet) of Southaven, sister, Ann Giachelli (Randy) of Greenville and a host of nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Joseph Catholic School.
