James Houston Bell

Funeral services for James Houston Bell, 74, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.  He died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson.  Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

Mr. Bell was born in Carroll County, MS the son of Louie Alford and Tessie Mary Sellars Bell. He was a graduate of West Tallahatchie High School in Webb, MS and moved to Greenville from Philipp, MS in 1957.  He served in the United States Navy and after his discharge he returned to Greenville. He attended Mississippi Delta Community College, Kilgore Junior College, Kentucky Weslyn and Iowa State University where he completed many courses in Industrial Electricity, Electronics I, II, and III, and courses in Computer Micro Processors and Electrical Controls.

Mr. Bell was retired from ANR Pipeline Company in 1996 with 36 years service as a Compressor Station Supervisor.  He was employed with Boone Funeral Home several years as a Preneed Counselor.  He was a member of Riverport Baptist Church where he was an ordained Deacon.  He was Music Director in the Church for 20 years as a Layman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Charles Bell and Leroy Bell and by a daughter, Sheila Ann Bell.  He is survived by his wife Myrtis Ann Bell of Greenville; a daughter, Vonda Bell Hitt (Kenny) of Greenville; 3 grandchildren, Amanda Hitt of Branson, MO, Anna Kaye Hitt of Greenville and David Menotti, Jr. (Tiffany) of Gulfport, MS; and 2 great grandchildren, Peyton Servis and Eve Menotti of Gulfport, MS.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2013 prior to funeral services.
