Funeral services for James “Jim” Edwin Reames, 83, of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2020 at First Baptist Church, Leland. He passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
He was born on April 4, 1937 in Middleburg, OH to the late James and Gladys Hartman Reames.
Jim was a humble servant in life, serving in many different capacities. He served his family on a small farm in Middleburg, OH; his country in the U.S. Air Force; his wife, Mary Jo for 52 years as a good husband; his sons, Mike and Jimmy as a good role model and best friend; and his daughter, Susan for 41 years when she was disabled with a brain aneurysm shortly after birth. Other ways he served were; different roles in Habitat for Humanity; friends, neighbors and family with his uncanny repair skills; MSU at MAFES, Stoneville as an Agriculture Engineer with 35 years of dedicated work service and Jesus Christ’s church at First Baptist Church in Leland as a bible study leader, deacon and maintenance services.
Our family is thankful for all of Jim’s friends in Leland and especially thankful to the friends that helped serve Jim when his body could no longer serve others. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:7.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Reames; daughter, Susan Carol Reames; brother, Leroy
Reames (Iola) and sisters, Bernadine Cronkleton (George) and Mary Lou Kerns of Ohio.
He is survived by sons, Mike Reames (Florence) and Jimmy Reames and five grandchildren, Bradley
(Lesley), Heather (Brady), Lexie (Trip), Ryan, and Leland; and many nieces and nephews in Ohio,
Mississippi and Oklahoma.
There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers remembrances be made in the form of donations to First Baptist Church, American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
