James “Jimmy” Ervin O’Neal, Jr.

Funeral services for James “Jimmy” Ervin O’Neal, Jr., 71 of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.  He passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Jimmy was born May 30, 1947, in Greenwood, MS, the first child of the late James E O’Neal, Sr. and Mazie L. O’Neal.  He graduated from Greenwood High School and went on to join the United States Army.  He served in Vietnam and returned in 1969, and made his home in Greenville.

Jimmy retired in 2001 from United Parcel Service after a 30 year career.  After retiring he enjoyed attending car shows with his VW Bug, racing RC cars and planes and painting.  He and his wife enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles, gardening, and cooking.  All who knew Jimmy have had his delicious barbecue sauce that he made for decades.  He certainly loved giving his sauce to everyone he knew.  But most of all he enjoyed time spent with family and friends.  Jimmy never met a stranger, he was an honorable man with a kind and gentle soul that was deeply loved and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 31 years, Jessie F. O’Neal and a brother, Sidney H. O’Neal.

As a result of this transition he leaves his wife of 15 years, Connie O’Neal; daughter, Jessica White (Lee) of Ellisville; son, Jim O’Neal (Krista) of Fairview, TN; daughter, Kim Davis of Greenville; son, Corey Davis of Greenville; four grandsons, Julian O’Neal, Connor O’Neal, Peyton Cook and Luke White; sister, Rosiland Daves (Alan) of Colia; brother, Mike O’Neal (Janice) of Blackhawk and a host of nieces and nephews.
