Funeral services for James “Jimmy” Walter Ray, Sr., 51, of Leland will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 30 at Boone-Smith Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Friday, January 27 at his home. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
He was born in Greenville and graduated from Greenville Christian School. Jimmy worked for ARKLAMS Diesel and Tire Company as parts manager. He had a love for music and played the guitar. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to find broken items and fix them.
He was preceded in death by his father, Shelton Ray, his maternal grandparents, Henry and Bennie McClendon and by his paternal grandparents, Cicero and Ethel Ray.
He is survived by a daughter, Nikki Ray of Leland; 4 sons, James “Jimbo” Ray, Jr., Shelton “PJ” Ray, Kevin Ray and Nicholas Ray all of Leland; mother, Benny McClendon Ray of Leland; brother, Don Travis Ray (Joyce) of Greenville; sister, Charlotte Ray of Leland; 4 grandchildren, Molli, Zoe, Ryder and Addy; and 3 step-grandchildren, Gabby, Landen and Alex.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
