Funeral services for James Lamar Palmer, 88, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Saturday, January 13 at his home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
He was born on August 2, 1929 in Humphreys County, MS to Ernest E. and Mattie Foy Palmer. He attended school there and in Greenville where he moved to in 1945. In November 1947 he married Wynell Seymore, and they would of celebrated 70 years of marriage last November, but Mrs. Palmer died in October. He was in the construction business, being a carpenter, licensed electrician and plumber. James was associated with Abide Lumber Company for 30 years. In 1989 he became the building inspector for Washington County. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was a faithful husband and father.
He is also preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law, Trevette Palmer, son-in-law, Billy Chandler and sister, Mattie Weaver.
He is survived by two daughters, Carole P. Chandler and Lynne P. Moorman; a son, Randy L. Palmer (Marilyn); 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
