James Pritchard Johnson

Funeral services for James Pritchard Johnson. lovingly known as “JP”, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Greater Faith Tabernacle Church, 1876 Burning Bush Drive, Greenville, MS 38701. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

He passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026 at his home in Greenville, Mississippi. Born on February 9, 1939, in Lambert, Mississippi, to Frank and Effie Johnson, JP brought smiles to the faces of all who knew him.

JP spent most of his life in the Delta, where he became recognized as a dependable and meticulous master carpenter. Most would describe him as the “ultimate” handyman who could fix anything. JP had a strong-willed spirit and a loving heart who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He also had a passion for Country music and never missed a chance to sing his favorite songs.

JP is survived by his wife, Lisa Johnson of Greenville, MS; 3 sons, Bubba Johnson of Lebanon, MO, Michael Johnson of Brandon, MS, Jonathan (Karla) Johnson of Brandon, MS; 2 daughters, Paula (Gary) Whitlock of Saint Augustine, FL, Marylin (Jay) Livingston of Madison, MS; 9 grandchildren, Craig, Amanda, Mia, Macey, Makayla, Luke, Maddox, Brody, Julie; 1 brother, William “Cooter” Johnson; 2 sisters, Emma Lynchard, Patricia Daniels.

JP is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Effie Johnson; 1 grandchild, Sarah; 2 brothers, John “Buddy” Johnson, Robert Johnson; and 1 sister, Evelyn Muirhead.
