Funeral services for Jean M. Gary, 90, of Greenville will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Restoration Church. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. She passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
She was born in Thomastown, Mississippi on September 28, 1933, where she lived for several years before moving to Pascagoula, Mississippi, and eventually to Greenville, Mississippi, where she lived most of her life. She loved her family…. husband, daughters, and grandchildren. No one loved family more than she did. She lived for and loved God, serving many years at the East Greenville Church of God directing the choir, singing, playing piano, organ, and various other musical instruments, teaching others to develop their singing talents for God, and directing many cantatas. She worked at Greenville Mills for a time and later worked at First National Bank of Greenville.
She is preceded in death by her loving spouse, Melvin C. Gary; her parents, Walter L. McMillon and Mabel G. McMillon; siblings, Mavis E. Hayes, Daulton L. McMillon, and Bobby G. McMillon; and one grandchild, Sonya Renee Phillips.
She is survived by three daughters, Teresa Terry (Casey), Vicki Jenkins (Lamar), and Denise Laney (Russ); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren: Kimberly Smith (John) and their children, Kerstin Brown (Colton), and their child Declan Brown, and John-Michael Smith; Jennifer Fuqua (Preston) and their children, Joshua, Devon (Melanie) and Autumn; Brook Holland and his children Kaitlyn, Merideth, and Aiden; Nicolas (Mary) Laney; Chase (Beth) Laney and their children Emily, Zach, Bella and Hannah (Jamin) Lizotte and their children Cahill, Ryder and Rory; Alison (Kyle) Stinnett and their daughter Lilly; and sister, Sheila (Dennis) Lashley.
