Funeral services for Jean McLaughlin Bridge Pettiet, 79, of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 22 at First Baptist Church in Leland. She died Tuesday, September 18 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Mrs. Pettiet was born in Hollis, OK where she graduated from high school. In 1958 she married her high school sweetheart, Bob Bridge. They made their home in Leland in 1965 where she was secretary for The Leland Compress for many years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Leland where she taught Sunday School for 39 years and she also headed up the Wednesday night supper. Mrs. Pettiet was also a member of the Leland Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her first husband in 1999 and in 2004 she married Joe Pettiet.
She is survived by her husband Joe Pettiet of Leland; daughter, Cheryl Bridge Brown (Danny) of Orlando, FL; son, Brent Bridge (Lisa) of Leland; Sister, JoAnn Cansler of Tyler, TX; six grandchildren, Buddy Brown, Anna Taylor Dieterich (Bryan), Dillon Bridge (Hanna), Peyton Bridge Palasini (Mike), Preston Bridge and Larson Bridge; and four great grandchildren, Sam Brown, Wyatt Brown, Colt Palasini and Titus Dieterich.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Leland.
