Jennie Dee Lawrence Diamond

Jennie Dee Lawrence Diamond passed away in the comfort of one of her daughter’s home Monday morning November 23, 2020. “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” – Psalm 100: 4-5

Private family services will be on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Hollandale Baptist Church. Friends are invited to the graveside service which will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at Hollandale Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

Jennie was born September 1, 1932 to Ernest and Zelma Lawrence in Kosciusko, Attala County Mississippi. She was the 5th of 6 children. She attended Barnes School in Leake County where she was well known for her basketball skills. She has passed those skills down through three generations. Watching those basketball games was one of the highlights of her life.

After graduating high school, she went by bus to Leland, Mississippi, to become a Telephone operator. While living and working in Leland she met and married the love of her life Billy Grant Diamond on July 30, 1952 in Cleveland, Mississippi. Later in life she worked at Callins Industries in Hollandale, Mississippi.

She started attending Hollandale Baptist Church late in her life. Earlier this year she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior through the witnessing of Dottie Estess to whom her family is forever grateful.

Jennie is survived by four daughters Kathleen (Kathy) Garrett and (Jimmy) Carrollton, MS, Linda Middleton (Bubba Hinson) Natchez, MS, Billie Tyler (Danny) Leland, MS, Cynthia (Cindy) Christian (Howard) Hollandale, MS; Nine grandchildren, Kellie Doss and (Billy) of Leland, Leslie Davis of Madison, Jim Garrett (Amy) of Caledonia, Jennie Lynn Corbett of Winona, Marlana Peeples (Matt) of Lubbock, TX, Paige Tyler of Cleveland, Ashleigh Miller (JR) of Hollandale, Wes Middleton (Lauren) of Natchez, Hope Carr (Jonas) of Summit, NJ; and 18 great-grandchildren Ella Wesley and Lucy Davis of Madison, Bella, Reid, and Tenley Garrett of Caledonia, Langston Grady Corbett of Winona, Emma Grace, Graham, Molly and Emersyn Peeples of Lubbock TX, Brixton and Chandler Tolliver of Cleveland, Grant Tolliver, Tri and Doug Miller of Hollandale, Jake and Adele Middleton of Natchez, and Baby Boy Carr of Summit, NJ who is presently on the way. She is also survived by two sisters, Lola Mae Blocker of Byram and Weda Ramage of West. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and dear friends including her best friend of 66 years Faye Steed.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Billy Grant Diamond; Her parents Ernest and Zelma Lawrence; two sisters Earnestine and Helen; two brothers Chester Lee and Willie.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to Carrollton Baptist Church Carrollton, MS, New Covenant Presbyterian Natchez MS, First Baptist Church Leland, MS, or Hollandale Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank Grace Hospice for their care and love shown to our sweet mama. Julie Peyton, Patricia Jones, Jay Mathews, Melanie Shelton, Blanche Crain and Barnes Vance you all are such blessings. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
