Funeral services for Jesse “Danny” Daniel Ellis, Sr., 66, of Greenville will be today at 3:00 p.m. at Boone-Smith Funeral Home, 1580 S. Colorado. He died Friday, September 8 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Danny was born in Belzoni, MS, and grew up in Leland. He later moved to Greenville where he was in Auto sales for over 40 years. Danny was well known in the community for his love of coaching little league baseball and football as well as his involvement in announcing high school football games.
He was a loving and devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle. Danny loved spending time with his grandchildren and was also very devoted to his pets, especially his German Shepherd, Chloe.
He is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Patricia Ann Ellis; 5 sons, Jesse “Jody” Ellis, Jr. of Lawton, OK, Wayne Ellis and his wife Link of Somerville, TN, John “Boo” Ellis and his wife Monica of Greenville, Gerry Ellis and his wife Mary Katherine of Vicksburg, and Perry Ellis and his wife Leah of Madison; 2 brothers, Jeff Ellis and his wife Marciea of Kentucky, and Randy Ellis and his wife Georgeanna of Kentucky; 2 sisters, Fay Dalton and her husband Ted of Kentucky, and Linda Tinsley and her husband Eddie of Kentucky; 7 grandchildren, Sarah Layne Ellis, Luke Ellis, Taylor Ann Ellis, Blake Ellis, John Walker Ellis, Ryan Ellis and Reid Ellis along with numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Danny’s name to the Delta Sportsplex Foundation, P. O. Box 5367, Greenville, MS 38704.
