Funeral mass for Jimmie N. Giardina, Jr., 86, of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at St. James Catholic Church, Leland. He died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Mr. Giardina was born in Leland where he attended Leland High School. He enlisted in the U. S. Army serving from 1945 to 1946. After his discharge he returned to Leland where he finished his education graduating from Leland High School. He then worked at Leland Compress, Mohasco Carpet Mill, then as a mechanic at the Volkswagon dealership from 1966 to 1987. He then worked at the USDA with the Southern Weed Science Research Unit. Mr. Giardina was a volunteer for the Leland Fire Department from 1956 until 2011. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to the services at the church.
