Funeral services for Jimmy Etheridge, 69, of Leland will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 12 at Boone Funeral Home, Leland. He died Saturday, December 9 at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Jimmy was born in Hollandale, MS on December 13, 1947, to Willie F. Etheridge and Inez Etheridge. He grew up in Leland, MS. He graduated from Leland High School, where he was a member of the FFA. He received his Associates Degree from Mississippi Delta Community College, his B.S. in Entomology from Mississippi State University and his Masters Degree in Entomology from the University of Arkansas. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army. Jimmy was employed by Chevron Chemical Company/Valent USA for 40 years.
He was an avid hunter and loved to just be in the woods watching all wildlife, and loved being with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Valerie Jeanette Strickland Etheridge; son, Jim Etheridge, Jr.; daughter, Amanda L. Etheridge Watson; brother, Robert Etheridge (Nan) ; sister, Barbara J. Etheridge Barrett (Shelby); granddaughter, Caitlyn M. Watson; grandson, Cole Watson, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Collin Watson, Ray Barrett, Ray Barrett, Jr., David Trahan, Bart Trahan, and Jeremy Hughes.
