Funeral services for Joan Burt Davis, 87, of Wayside, Mississippi will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Avon United Methodist Church. She died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family March 1, 2022. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
She was born October 15, 1934, to JH Burt Sr. and Ethel Hamner Burt of Wayside, Mississippi. In 1948, she married Richard Lee Davis making their home in Wayside, Mississippi. She was Librarian for Riverside School and later Avon Public Library. She was a member of Avon United Methodist Church. She loved her family, her flowers, and her hummingbirds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Jim Harold Burt, Jr of Wayside, Mississippi.
She is survived by her sons Rick Davis (Glenda) of Pass Christian, Mississippi, Darry Davis (Debbie) of Shaw, Mississippi, and her daughter Patti Davis Oswalt (Paul) of Greenville, Mississippi, her sisters Helen Burt Titler of Gulfport, Mississippi, and Lisa Burt Neely of Austin, Texas. She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren Justin Davis (April) of Cleveland, Mississippi, and Jason Oswalt (Morgan) of Hollandale, Mississippi, Natasha French (Bennie) of Pass Christian, Mississippi, Ashley Holland (Bryan) of Greenville, Mississippi, Lauren Bellipanni (Cody) of Madison, Mississippi, and Peyton Holloway (Daniel) of Belzoni, Mississippi, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be made to St. Jude and Avon Methodist Church.
