Graveside services for Joe Allen Cook, age 55, of Hollandale will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Hollandale City Cemetery. He died Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Delta Health-The Medical Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
He was born in Hollandale, MS and graduated from Deer Creek School where he was an outstanding baseball and football player. He received a scholarship to play baseball and football at Mississippi Delta Community College. Joe only got to attend MDCC for a short period of time before having to return home to care for his dad due to ill health. After returning home he took over the family trucking company, Big J Trucking Company. He recently retired due to ill health.
Joe had a love for the outdoors and was known as the “Furrman” in Hollandale. He was a member of the Mississippi Trapper Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, D.A. and Jessie JoAnn Wade Cook and sister, Doris Ann Bullock.
He is survived by a brother, James Cook (Jessie) of Hollandale.
