Joe Curtis Sims

Funeral services for Joe Curtis Sims, 86, of Hollandale will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Hollandale Baptist Church. He died Monday, November 15, 2021 at his home. Burial will be in Hollandale City Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

Mr. Sims was born in Belzoni, MS where he attended school. He became employed with Twin County Electric as a lineman and retired as a superintendent after 44 years of service. He was an instructor for the lineman school at Mississippi Delta Community College for several years. Mr. Sims also coached pony league baseball in the 1980’s; umpired baseball and refereed basketball and football for MAIS schools. On June 3, 1956 he married Margaret Williamson and they made their home in Hollandale. He united with the Hollandale Baptist Church on April 14, 1961 making him a member for 60 years, was ordained as a deacon in September 1971, serving in deacon ministry for 50 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife in 2016; daughter, Annette Brown; brothers, John Henry, Sherwood and Aaron; sister, Eva Mae Hamilton and grandson, Robert Allen Manor III.

He is survived by his son, Joe Curtis Sims, Jr. (Holli) of Fulshear, TX; daughter, Sandra Gail Manor (Jack) of Hollandale; sister, Louise Cobb of Belzoni; six grandchildren, Brandy Tominello (Dominic), Christin Manor Frew (Parker), Amber Brown Halford (Zack), Melissa Manor Wynne (John David), Joe Curtis Sims III and Emma Sims; and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
