Memorial services for Joe George Guyton, 87, of Greenville and formerly of Hollandale will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 1 at Boone Funeral Home Chapel in Hollandale. He died Friday, November 27 at St. Dominic Hospital, Jackson.
Mr. Guyton was born in Hollandale where he graduated from high school and then attended Delta State University. He enlisted in the U. S. Army where he was in the 31st Infantry Division. After he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant he returned to Hollandale where he was employed with Deer Creek Cotton Compress Company. He retired as Superintendent Manager in 1990. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Shanks Guyton of Greenville; a sister, Vera Roush of Mountain View, AR; 2 nephews and 4 nieces.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Prospect United Methodist Church, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Houston, MS 38851 or to a charity of your choice.
