Joe Peel

Graveside services for Joe Peel, 85, of Greenville will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the New Cleveland Cemetery in Cleveland, MS. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Greenville, MS. He passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, at his son’s home in Madison, Mississippi, surrounded by love and family. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland, MS.

Joe was born on March 24, 1941, in James Crossing, outside of Greenville, Mississippi, to Harold Peel and Marjorie Kilgore Peel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Peel and Marjorie Kilgore Peel, and his brothers, Marvin Peel and Benny Peel.

He is survived by his loving children: Wendy, Jimmy (Sonya), Michael (Cindy), Jodie (Kenneth), and Haley. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Justin, Sage, Alie, Ashley, JC, Brianna, Jaden, Ethan, Ashton, Meyah, Mason, and Mylie; and his adored great-grandchildren: Christian, Macie, Parker, Riley, Ryder, and Sienna.

Joe proudly served in the Army National Guard. Throughout his working years, he was employed by Grenada Farms, Reed Exterminating, and later retired from South Delta Housing, where he served as Lead Housing Inspector.

Joe found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, Ole Miss football, hunting, playing cards, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.

He was baptized and was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Greenville, Mississippi.

Joe was a simple, family-devoted man whose life was marked by love, kindness, and selflessness. He was a provider, protector, jokester, listener, and one of the best storytellers you could ever meet. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of his family forever.
