Joe Sullivan

A visitation for Joe Sullivan, 87, of Greenville, MS will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 11:00 am at Boone Funeral Home in Greenville, MS. 

Joe passed away Thursday, July 27 th , at his residence. He was born August 13, 1935, in Greenville, MS to parents Paul and Clara Sullivan. He was one of six children. As a young man Joe served 4 years in the U. S. Navy. While in the Navy, he spent time aboard the USS Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier and was stationed at Whiting Field Naval Air Station located near Milton, Florida. Following his stint in the U.S. Navy Joe returned home, attended Mississippi Delta Community College, and began working. He was employed at a naval satellite operations center as a technician for many years until his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed woodwork and crafting and attended arts and crafts shows, much of the time alongside his sister, Annie, who also had a knack for crafting. 

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Pete Sullivan, Earl Sullivan, Bill Sullivan, and two sisters, Annie Brown and Katherine Pyburn, Debra Merrill (niece) and Tommy Brown (nephew). 

He is survived by three nephews, Bobby Brown, Jimmy Brown, Jerry Brown and one niece, Linda Muirhead, and a host of great nieces and nephews. 

Joe will be laid to rest near family in Washington County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or other charity of choice.
