Funeral services for John Barry “Rod” Brasfield, age 80, of Lake Village will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 27 at First Baptist Church, Greenville. He died Friday, July 24th at Delta Regional Medical Center. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.
Rod was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He married Joan Reynolds, and they made their home in Greenville and later in Lake Village. She preceded him in death in 2000, and he married Marianne Love in 2006. Rod worked as a salesman in the automobile industry for more than 40 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Greenville, the Elks Club, and was an avid hunter in his younger years. His main hobby and love were his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Marianne Brasfield of Lake Village; 2 daughters, Cindy B. Miers (Lee) of Greenville and Tinka B. Bruton (Greg) of Hollandale; 4 grandchildren, Lee Miers IV (Elizabeth Ann) of Oxford, MS, John Reynolds Miers of Memphis, TN, Anne Barry Bruton of Birmingham, AL, and Owen Bruton of Leland, MS; 1 great granddaugter, Mary Elizabeth Miers of Oxford, and 3 stepchildren, Bill Love (Brenda), Susan Walker (Jeff), and Angela Rutland (Jamie).
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services Monday at First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Greenville or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
