Funeral services for John Burton Chism, age 82, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home in Greenville. He passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022, in Greenville. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Old Greensboro Cemetery in Eupora.

John was born on April 30, 1939 to Jessie V. Chism and Carmen Mullins Chism. He lived most of his life in Greenville, MS. He was employed at Scott Electric for almost 60 years serving as a Master Electrician, eventually becoming the Vice President. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, working outdoors, and playing cards. He was known to most long-time residents of Greenville as always having a smile on his face. He never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Patricia Swindle Chism; his son: William Keith Chism of Eupora; his parents: Jessie and Carmen Chism of Stewart; and his sister-in-law: Pamela Carroll Chism.

He is survived by his daughters: Theresa Williams of Kosciusko, Sylvia (Tommy) Crutchfield of Eupora, Pam (Roy) Hitt of Eupora, and Evelyn (Eddie) Richardson of Charleston, SC; his son: Bubba (Sharon) Chism of Clarkson; his grandchildren: Jeremy Dixon of Kosciusko, Clint (Stephanie) Hester of Eupora, Mia Pogue of Eupora, Brittany (Sean) Horn of Eupora, Samantha Cabaniss of Mathiston, Dustin Cabaniss of Eupora, Logan Richardson of Charleston, SC, Shelby (Nathan) Ballard of Clarskon, Trey Chism of Clarkson, Nicole (Dustin) Carmichael of Starkville, and Keith (Tabitha) Chism of Starkville; his two sisters: Joyce Jones of Stewart and Susan (Ricky) Newton of Eupora; his brothers: Van (Brenda) Chism of Springfield, MO, Lloyd Chism of Winona, and Jeff Chism of Stewart; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
