Funeral services for John Paul Weir, 78, of Dandridge, TN and formelry of Leland were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 15 at Boone Funeral Home, Leland. He died on March 7, 2015 at his winter home in Punta Gorda, FL. Burial was in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Mr. Weir was a native of Leland, the only child of Paul Jerome and Jessie Mae Law Weir. He graduated from Leland High School in 1954 where he was an honor student, serving as president of his senior class, The President Council and “L” Club and he played football and basketball. He graduated from Mississippi State University. Mr. Weir worked in Maryland as a cartographer specializing in ocean mapping with the government. He retired in 1991 and made his home in Dandridge, TN.
He is survived by a 1st cousin, Bill Clarke of Hughes, AR; 2nd cousins, Annette Holder of Natchez, MS, Louis Jones of Texas, Roy Jones of Natchez, MS, Clyde Poole of Canton, MS and Rayford Poole of Canton, MS; several 3rd cousins and golfing partner, Freddie Harrill of Dandridge, TN.
There was a visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
