Funeral services for John “Sonny” Harold Collum, Sr., 89, of Greenville will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He passed away peacefully on July 26, 2022, in his home in Greenville, MS. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Greensboro Cemetery in Tomnolen, MS. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
John was a man who lived life on his terms, caring deeply for his family, working to build a successful business, and helping those he cared for. He was the owner/operator of Collum Tool, which recently celebrated 50 years in business. John was a talented drafter and designer, often finding ways to improve or reinvent everything from everyday items to complicated food processing machines. He rarely took the easiest path but always took the best, never settling for mediocrity.
John was preceded in death by his parents, James J. and Zenia Crocker Collum, his sister Eva Marie Pitman, and his wife, Evelyn Collum. He is survived by three sons: John Harold Collum Jr., Timothy Collum, James David Collum, stepdaughter Patti Hemphill, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation from 9:00-10:00 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
