Funeral services for Joyce Reed Parkerson, 85, of Eudora, AR will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 16 at Greater Faith Tabernacle Church on Burning Bush Drive, Greenville. She died Friday, August 11 at her home in Eudora, AR after a lengthy illness. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Joyce was born on February 7, 1932 in Sunflower County, MS to the late James D. O’Leary and Evelyn “Birdie” Geeslin O’Leary.
Joyce was married on March 1, 1946 in Shaw, MS to James W. Parkerson and they were married for 64 years. They were residents of Greenville since 1952 until her illness in 2012 when she became a resident of Eudora, AR. Joyce was a homemaker and she enjoyed crocheting, sewing and gardening. She also enjoyed attending church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James W. Parkerson; six siblings, Winfield H. “Buddy” O’Leary, Thomas “Hubert” O’Leary, Joseph “Glenn” O’Leary, William D. O’Leary, Betty Cole, and Pauline McClain.
She is survived by a son, Jimmy Parkerson (Ann) of Eudora, AR; daughter, Carolyn Harris (Ralph) of Greenville; brother, James D. “Junior” O’Leary of Jackson; 7 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Rev. Charles Fisher will officiate.
