A celebration of life service for Juanita Hamilton Gray, 92, of Greenville will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 7, 2020 at the First Baptist Church Chapel, Greenville. She passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at her home. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 12, 2020 at New Albany City Cemetery, New Albany, MS. Boone Funeral Home, Greenville is in charge of local arrangements.
She was born in Memphis, TN and grew up in New Albany, MS. She graduated from New Albany High School and from University of Memphis. Juanita taught Math and Science in public schools of Memphis, Hampton, VA, Warren County, MS and Greenville Public Schools.
Juanita served as president of American Association of University Women for MS and served as a member and chairman of MS ETV board for 7 years. She is a founding member of Delta Artist Associations. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Alice Bell Garden Club, a past member of Delta Kappa Gamma, and past president of Washington County Republican Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Robert Gray, her parents, and three sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Rosie Raley of Memphis, TN and Shannon Sipes of Greenville, MS; five grandchildren, Lisa Gray, Debbie (Steve) Wickliffe, Joshua Hudson, Lea Merrill Pugh and Olivia Pugh; four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandsons. She also leaves a brother, Charles Hamilton of Weatherford, TX.
There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 7 at the First Baptist Church Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1163, Greenville, MS 38702 or to a charity of your choice.
