Graveside services for Mrs. June Smith Summerlin McGuire, age 90 of Greenville, MS, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale. She passed away Monday morning, 28 November 2022 at HarborChase Assisted Living, Orlando, Florida. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
June was born on 27 October 1932 in Greenville, MS to the late Jesse and Eugenia Smith. She was married to Samual Summerlin and was an Army spouse who lived with her husband at various military installations located in Hawaii, Kentucky, Virginia and Germany. After the passing of Samual Summerlin, June remarried the late Beau McGuire of Clarksdale, MS and they settled in Greenville, MS. June loved her home, her yard and the garden was her pride and joy. She loved to sit on her patio every spring and watch the martins fly into the gourds, which she had hung for them, where they nested for the summer. Her door was always open and ready to offer a glass of cold ice tea and a slice of pie/cake.
In addition to the deaths of her husbands, She was preceded in death by her 5 year old son, Sammy Summerlin. June McGuire is survived by her son, Paul Summerlin of Portland, Oregon, daughter Melissa Quantock of Orlando, Florida; 5 grandchildren, David Jr, Christopher, Heather, Jonathan, and Marissa. In addition, she has 8 great grandchildren.
