It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen Christine Bennett Hollingsworth. Born on November 27, 1961, in Greenville, Mississippi, Karen went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 17, 2026, after bravely facing another battle with cancer at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She was 64 years old.
Karen was a beloved daughter of the late Billy Bennett and Myra Ann Swilley McDaniel, who preceded her in death, along with her husband of 41 years, Jimmy Hollingsworth. Despite the sorrow of these losses, Karen’s life was a tapestry woven with love, friendship, and devotion.
She is survived by her children, daughter Amy Manning and her husband Dale of Greenville, Mississippi, and son Lee Hollingsworth, also of Greenville. Her legacy lives on in her adored grandson, Parker Manning of Jacksonville, Florida. She is also survived by her sister, Cynthia Baker, and her husband, Rick, of Bentonville, Arkansas, her brother Tim Bennett of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and her stepbrother Timothy McDaniel of Greenville, Mississippi.
Karen was a proud graduate of Greenville High School, whose career was marked by dedication and warmth. She began her professional journey in the home office of Stein Mart before finding her true calling at the Greenville Compress Company, where she spent many years and formed lifelong friendships.
Art was the language of Karen’s soul; she found joy in painting, drawing, writing, and sculpting with clay. Her appreciation for beauty was further expressed through her love of horseback riding and collecting Native American art. These passions were a testament to her creative spirit and many talents.
Known for her infectious smile and the ease with which she made friends, Karen had an innate ability to brighten the lives of those around her. She was a compassionate soul, often sending thoughtful cards to friends in times of need, a small gesture that spoke volumes of her kindness and empathy.
A service celebrating Karen’s life will be held on March 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Boone Funeral Home, located at 905 Main Street, Greenville, Mississippi. A visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the memory of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, particularly the Cardiovascular Critical Care Unit, for the exceptional care and comfort provided to Karen and her family during her final days.
