Katherine Boyett Day

A “Going Home” celebration for Katherine Boyett Day, 66, of Oxford will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 20, 2020 at Emmanual Baptist Church, Greenville.  She passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020, peacefully at her home in Oxford, MS. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.

Kathy, as she was lovingly called, was born on July 9, 1953 in Natchez, MS to Lessie Jewel and Simuel Bernell Boyett. She was a claims secretary for State Farm Insurance company for most of her career. She married the love of her life, Dennis Day in October of 1982. They raised 2 sons and 2 daughters and gave them a wonderful Christian foundation growing up. Mom was an avid journal writer and photographer who spent most her time documenting the beautiful moments of her life. If there’s one thing to say about our mom—she lived life to the fullest and loved even the simplest things in life. All while smiling to anyone and everything even up until the very end.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis and four children, Jeffrey, April (Daniel), Heather (Jamie) and Heath. She is also survived by her brother, Don (Linda) Boyett, sister, Mary Lou Blacksher and 6 grandchildren (Hannah, Kylie, Aron, Cody, Nathan, and Aubrey) and host of niece and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Lessie Boyett, her father, Simuel Boyett, and her brother, Bobby “Skip” (Millie) Boyett. She will be missed by so many of her friends and family, but would want others to know that life is about family and making sure that Christ is the center of your world. Her life exhibited Christ in every way and her legacy will remain in our hearts forever.

There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church.
