Funeral Mass for Kathleen Lagarde Virden, 81, of Greenville, MS will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday December 1, 2014 at 2:00 PM. She died Monday, November 24, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville, MS.
Kathleen was born February 15, 1933 in New Orleans, LA where she grew up with her extended family. She moved to Atlanta, GA and graduated from North Fulton High School. She then earned a degree in home economics from the University of Georgia where she rooted her Bulldogs to many victories and met lifelong friends in her sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma (president).
She was Life Member of Junior Auxiliary of Greenville, MS. She was also a member of Greenville Garden Club where she served on multiple committees. She was a faithful communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greenville, MS.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Matthew Lowber Virden III, her son M. L. Virden IV, her parents Donald Eugene Lagarde and Elizabeth Charlton Lagarde and her brother Robert Lagarde. She is survived by her brother; Donald Eugene Lagarde, Jr. of Covington, LA, and sisters-in-law; Rosemary Virden Hannan of Paducah, KY and Sherry Virden Thornton (Bill) of Meridian, two brothers-in-law; John Virden (Ginger) of Montgomery, AL and Jimmy Virden (Holly) of Salt Lake City, Utah, her daughter-in-law; Mary Hyatt Virden of Ada, OK and her children; Eugenie Virden Outzen (Bart) of Paducah, KY, Mary Virden Henry (Larry) of Madison, MS, Bess Virden Brooks (Steve) of Dallas, TX, Jenny Virden Thompson (Bobby) of Greenville, MS, Donny Virden (Lee Ann) of Olive Branch, MS, Britt Virden (Esther) of Greenville, MS, Juliet Virden O’Brien (Danna) of Jackson, MS. She leaves with fond memories of her eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
