Funeral services with Military Rites for Kirby Wayne Burchfield, 61, of Indianola will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 28 at Boone-Card Funeral Home, Indianola. He died Thursday, December 22 at his home. Burial will be in Indianola City Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Indianola.
Kirby was born in Indianola on March 1, 1955 to J. D. Burchfield and Ida Mae Hudson Burchfield.
He served in the United States Army from 1972-1975, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged with the rank of PV2. Kirby attended Mississippi Delta Junior College receiving his degree as a Lab Technician and in Nursing.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his twin brother, Kenneth D. Burchfield and eldest brother, D. G. “Buddy” Burchfield and half sister, Charlotte Gilley. Kirby is survived by a nephew, Michael Burchfield (Amy) of Laurel; niece, Michele Burchfield Dearman (Rev. Phillip) of Oxford; great nephew, Addison Burchfield of Laurel and great niece, Allie Claire Burchfield of Laurel.
There will be a visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
