Funeral services for Lamar Allen, age 88, of Lake Village will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He died at his home Sunday, October 14. Graveside services will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mr. Allen was born in Indianola and received his education there. He began working on a farm at an early age, later became employed at Greenville Mills, and retired as supervisor. He married Helen Byrd, and they made their home in Greenville. They moved to Lake Chicot after his retirement. His nieces, Marilyn and Treasa have been his caregivers for the last several years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, 3 sisters, Minnie Allen, Maude Ethel Perkins, and Freddie Mae Thomas, and 3 brothers, L.C. Allen, Billy Allen, and Wayne Allen.
He is survived by 3 brothers, John Wesley Allen of Leland, Robert Allen of Lake Washingon, and Gene Allen of Springdale, AR; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from noon until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday.
