Funeral services for Leo F. Williams, Jr., 71, of Hollandale were at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 31, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home, Greenville. He died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at his home. Burial was in Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mr. Williams was born Febuary 10, 1942 in Greenville, MS to Leo F. Williams, Sr. and Helen Boykin Williams of Delta City, MS. He moved with his family to Hollandale area in 1944 where his father and grandfather started Lakeland Farms.
He graduated from Riverside High School in 1959, Hinds Junior College in 1961 and he attended Mississippi State University.
In 1962 he returned to Hollandale and the family farm where he remained until his death. During his 50 years of farming, he was a member and past president of Washington County Farm Bureau, served on the Mississippi Rice Promotion Board, and was a current member of Farmers Incorported Board of Directors.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Jo Jenson Williams, 2 sons, Leo F. Williams III and Peter Jenson Williams, 4 grandchildren, Molly Jenson Williams, Leo F. Williams IV, Lauren Williams and Jana Holleman; and a sister, Jane Williams Simmons.
The family received friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. The Rev. Greg Ducker of Avon United Methodist Church officated. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Avon United Methodist Church, Arms of Mercy or any charity of the donor’s choice.
